Venue Hire: FAQs

What information do you need from me?
To enable us to supply you with an accurate quotation, please provide our Event Team with date/day, start and end time (including
set up time) and the number of attendees. For cinema hires, please also include the film title and release date.

Is there parking?
The nearest car park is Q-Park at First Street (next door to HOME). You can receive a discount of 25% when you pre-book your car park ticket online, using the code: HOMEMCR25. Click here to pre-book your car park ticket. 

Do you have anywhere to unload large deliveries?
We can accept some deliveries through the arches on Whitworth Street West, and this must be pre-booked. Access is via the bollards and will involve you driving through the pedestrian areas of the estate. Please discuss your requirements with the Events team well in advance of your event.

Do you allow corkage?
We don’t allow corkage for events, we have a variety of packages that include a discount, please speak to the Catering Team for details.


Can we decorate the spaces?
Yes, provided that all decorations are nonflammable, non-marking, removed at the end of your event and nothing is stuck to paintwork.

Is HOME accessible?
There are three levels to the building, including the ground floor and these can all be accessed via the lifts. There are accessible toilets on all levels and the All Gender toilets are located on the Ground Floor. If you have any further requirements, please discuss them with us ahead of your event.

What events are not suitable to host at HOME?
Charity fundraising events, paid for ticketed film screenings or theatre shows, live sports, religious services, dance schools/ competitions, hypnotists, live bands, private sit-down dinners, festivals or fairs, parties for teenagers, 18th or 21st birthday parties.

Do you pay commission to agencies?
As a registered charity, HOME does not pay commission to agencies.

Can I livestream my event?
We do not supply the equipment needed to livestream your event but you are welcome to bring this along.

How much notice do you need?
Our spaces are in popular demand and often booked up months or even years in advance, so we recommend booking as soon as possible. As a minimum, we require at least 12 weeks’ notice to be able to schedule a private hire in the cinemas. For the Event Space please allow at least seven days.

Do you allow corkage?
We don’t allow corkage for events, we have a variety of drinks packages available. Please speak to the Catering Team for more details.

Can we bring our own catering?
We don’t allow external catering. We have an extensive function menu and are always happy to discuss other options with you.

Can I bring my favourite film on DVD to watch in the cinema?
It is not possible to bring your own DVD – once you have selected a film title, we will contact the relevant distributor, obtain a licence fee and arrange for the film to be delivered to HOME. The licence fee will be added to your final bill.

Do you have space for larger drinks receptions?
Our Ground Floor Bar can be hired for drinks receptions of up to 170 people – contact to discuss your options

Do you hire out your Theatre spaces?
We have very limited availability for our Theatre spaces, and they usually require at least nine months’ notice. Please contact for availability and information.

What is the discount for Members?
HOME members receive 10% discount on room hire.

The hirer may not use the name “HOME” or “Greater Manchester Arts Centre”, in any of its advertising or publicity for the event (other than describing the location of the event) without the prior written approval of HOME.
